Pos 1–3 The World Manufacturer Identifier (WMI)
The WMI tells you exactly where the vehicle originated. The first character identifies the country of manufacture, the second identifies the specific automaker, and the third specifies the vehicle type or manufacturing division. Pos 4–9 The Vehicle Descriptor Section (VDS)
